When you become a parent, it is really easy to forget that you were first a spouse.

Since having Vivi, our already full plates have been overflowing. It is so easy to get overwhelmed and, unfortunately, it is usually Date Night that gets cut from our agenda for the week. We still go out for dinner but, at the end of the day, it is just easier to take Vivi with us than it is to get a babysitter or drop her off with her grandparents.

As Vivi gets older, she is starting to pick up on more things. She repeats things that have been said, copies mannerisms, and exhibits some of the same mannerisms and me and her father. I really want her to have good role models in her life and what better place than to have that then in our own home. Having a healthy, loving relationship with her father will show her what a good relationship should look like. It will show her what to look for in a spouse and what to aspire to have in a relationship. It is because of all of this that I realized that now, more than ever, I need to make time to date her Daddy.

Our relationship has by no means been easy. It seems like everything has been a whirlwind. Dating, becoming engaged and getting married happened within the span of a year. We were in love and ready to get our lives started but that didn’t make the things we were facing as a couple any easier. As if all of that wasn’t a whirlwind, we found out we were pregnant with Vivi just two months after having gotten married. While we love her more than we can ever express, we were not planning on having children that soon. I really feel like we didn’t give ourselves the chance, as a couple, to grow and mature. It is because of this that I feel that it has become natural for us to not make date night a priority. But all of that changes today.

Before I was ever Vivi’s Mommy, I was Justin’s wife. As much as it pains me to think about it, Vivi will grow up and start a family of her own one day and it will just be me and Justin. If we don’t build a firm foundation in our relationship now, it will only be natural for us to have more problems in the future. The last thing I want is a crumbling foundation in our future relationship so I am making the changes necessary to ensure that does not happen.

Justin and I actually have a date night planned for this weekend and it will be the first one we have been on in over 6 months! Can you believe that? I am excited to be dating my husband and I am going to make it a priority in our lives. He deserves my time and attention just as much as my daughter and, as his wife, I am going to do whatever I can to ensure that our marriage is successful.

Since I am going to be having a lot of Date Night’s in my future, I will definitely need to look my best. Lucky for me, my local Goodwill is right around the corner! Since people are constantly bringing in items and donating to Goodwill, you never know what you are going to find. There is literally something new every day! On our last visit, my husband and I took the time to pick out something to wear for one another. My husband picked out this adorable dress for me and I picked out a great button down for him. Both of the items that we picked our were name brand and usually sell for significantly more than the price we paid. My husbands shirt is from J. Crew and they usually sell for about $60. We paid less than $5! My dress is by the brand Karlie. These dresses usually retail for around $90 and we paid less than $6!

With all of the money that we saved on our clothes, we can have dinner, a movie, and go out for dessert!
