Looking back on 2014, I had a truly spectacular year. I started dating and married the man of my dreams, transferred to teach at a truly amazing school, went to my 10 year high school reunion and welcomed the birth of one of my best friend’s little boy. Through all of this, I wore some pretty spectacular outfits, only in my opinion, to get me through it all. While in the grand scheme of things it make sound vain to talk about my outfits when looking back on 2014 but I think that it is really a way that I was able to express myself. In so many ways those moments were made even more special by what I was wearing. As Instagram was my first means of blogging, many of these shots were pulled directly from my page.I love the #fromwhereistand shot because it allows you to see things exactly as i see them. So I want you to take a walk with me down memory lane and I go through some of my outfits.
As a true Southern Girl, I feel that I am not officially dressed until I am wearing my pearls. This outfit was no exception. The rich jewel tones and subtle pattern mixing paired perfectly with the soft shimmer hues of the pearls. The studs on the bag give the outfit a little more edge. To this day, that bag is one of my fave TJ Maxx purchases!!
Camo was definitely a new print for me in 2014 but I absolutely loved its versatility. I added to my wardrobe shorts, pants, a jacket, a pair of shoes and this amazing bag from Stacy Brown Designs. I found myself using it almost every day and I am usually a big bag kind of girl. The clutch comes with a long handle as well as a clutch handle. The interior is super roomie and has more than enough room for keys, phone, cards and lipgloss. While this outfit is simple, the clutch brings it all together for a chic, classic look. You can click the link to order a clutch of your own. (While you are checking out the clutch, take a look at the rest of her site. She has some truly spectacular hand painted bangles. Ordering one of them is on my MUST DO list for 2015!)
This photo can be seen quite a lot on my blog because of this amazing skirt. This sequined beauty was purchased to wear for my 10 Year High School Reunion. The glitz can be dressed up or down. While the above picture is a little more dressy, I also paired it with a flannel shirt and heels as well as a denim jacket. It made me feel like I was a start and it is a piece that I will continue to wear through the years to come. You can purchase your own skirt from Mindy Mae’s Market for less than $50! Get yours before it sells out!
One of my biggest trends of 2014 was pattern mixing. I found it exciting to see how many different patterns that I could fit into one outfit. Plaids, polka dots, leopard print and camo… everything was mixed and matched then mixed again. This one of my absolutely favorite outfits. While it is only a simple mix of polka dots and leopard spots, look at that, I made a rhyme, the different sizes and textures of the patterns and materials catch your attention and are appeasing to eye. I keep my jewels simple with a classic arm party, an inspired necklace and the best accessories to ever become a part of my closet: Poppy Clips!!! Those little beauties not only keep my sleeves up but they bring so much life to the outfit. I highly recommend them to anyone. I always try to shop small and this company is sweet and thoughtful with exceptional customer service. Click the link to order a pair of your own. I promise that you will not regret your decision!!
Nerd Alert!! My name is Megan, and I am addicted to Harry Potter. Seriously, I have read every book and watched every movie more times that I can count. When Harry Potter weekend is on ABC Family my life comes to a halt so I can drop everything and watch. It is no surprise that I dressed up as Miss Hermione Granger for Halloween. Being a teacher meant that I needed to pick a costume that was appropriate for the classroom so I was more than happy to pull on my sweater, tie my tie and slip my Time Turner around my neck. This is a replica of her actual wand from Harry Potter World in Universal Studios, Florida. “Now, if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed. Or worse, expelled.”
I have saved the best outfit of 2014 for last: my wedding dress!! How perfect does this dress match the rustic, Southern feel of our wedding?? And look at wear my hands are… the dress had pockets!! I was in love with it as soon as I tried it on and the pockets sealed the deal. Completely covered in vintage inspired lace, my Great-Grandmother’s pearls were the perfect “something borrowed” to accent. The day was absolutely perfect and will forever be one of the best days of my life. I am so thankful that in 2014 I was able to marry my Soul Mate and now we get to live our Happily Ever After!
I encourage you all to follow me on Instagram so you can see all of my outfits for 2015. It is going to be hard to top 2014 but I am definitely going to try. Follow me ——-> beingmrsfowler.
