Hello Friends!

It is hard to believe that another month has come and gone, but here we are are already finished with the month of February! January may have dragged, but February definitely flew by at our house!

If you follow me over on Instagram, you probably noticed that I did a small style challenge the week of Valentine’s Day. There was not any specific prompts, just an encouragement to dress for the holiday and build community among everyone participating. It was a lot of fun and I loved seeing everyone’s outfits. If you are interested in seeing everyone who participated, just check out the hashtag #bemrsfowlersvalentine over on Instagram and I know you will feel inspired.

Because of the style challenge, I did not do a whole lot of shopping for the month of February so, instead, I wanted to share with you a few of the outfits that I put together for the week of love. While some of the pieces I already owned, a lot of them were new and were in collaboration with one of my favorite retailers, SHEIN. They had so many amazing pieces available and I was able to put together some truly incredible outfits. I encourage you to check everything out and consider adding some of the pieces to your own wardrobe. They were all super affordable and, if you use the code 1gveras, you can save 15% on your entire purchase!

Platform Crocs

I was gifted a pair of platform Crocs this month and I have to say that I was a bit skeptical at first. I did not know how I was going to make them work in an outfit. I have to say that, after a little research on Pinterest, I gathered some ideas and now I am obsessed. The shoes were incredibly comfortable and the platform was a lot of fun to wear. While I probably won’t be wearing them everyday, they are definitely a great addition to my wardrobe and will be perfect when I have to do a lot of walking. My advice to you should you decide to purchase is just incorporate them into what you would normally wear. For me, pattern-mixing is something that I do a lot so I made that the focus of my outfit instead of the shoes. By doing that, the shoes compliment the pieces and everything comes together for a chic, and comfy, look.

Tiger Midi Dress

One piece that I did purchase this month was this absolutely amazing, tiger print dress from ASOS. I saw it on Instagram on the fabulous @onelittlemomma and I fell in love. Once I saw the price, I knew that I had to add it to my wardrobe. It was such unique piece that I knew I would be able to get a lot of wear throughout the seasons. I paired it with booties this month but I know that it will look amazing with my favorite wedges as it starts to warm up. The sleeves have buttons so they can easily be rolled up for a different, cooler look. The dress looks great with a denim jacket or even unbuttoned as a kimono. The options are unlimited! I encourage you to check out this piece and consider adding it to your wardrobe. It runs a little small so I recommend sizing down.

Hopefully some of these favorites appeal to you as well! There was some truly great outfits that happened this month that would not have been possible without these pieces. I encourage you to check them all out and consider adding them to your wardrobe.

Pink Hues and Life Updates

Hello my Beautiful Friends! Life has been so absolutely crazy lately and I just wanted to take the time to fill all of you in!

Savannah Mom Blogger, Being Mrs. Fowler, styles a Members Only Jacket, mom style, teacher style, modest style, casual outfit

First up, I am done with school for the summer! Teaching is hard and definitely a stressful job so I always look forward to those few weeks in the summer when I can take some time for myself. We have a family vacation to Disney planned in just one short week, we are planning to go to Charleston for my birthday, and I am hoping that we can squeeze in weekend trip to Gatlinburg. I will also be majorly catching up on my blog, all 11 drafts that I have in progress, and planning out new centers for my classroom. I may have 7 weeks off, but I will be busy for most of those!

Another exciting change is that we sold out house! We are currently living with my parents while our dream house is being built. We will finally have some extra, much needed space, and I will have a closet room! Stay tuned for some fun updates on the house and full post on how I edit and organize my closet room. As of last week the foundation had been poured and the frame had been built. Next step is insulation and dry wall! We meet with our builders the first week of June and I we will hopefully find out our closing date. This is such exciting time in our lives and I cannot wait to see what exciting things are still coming in our future.

Vivi is growing like a weed and has developed the cutest little personality. She is very particular about what she likes and is not afraid to tell you “No!” She has an obsession with all things tiny so at any given time our floors are covered with Shopkins, Hatchimals and LOL Dolls. She has also discovered “Cookie Swirl C” videos on YouTube. Those videos are both annoying and extremely addicting! I find myself being sucked in wondering what Shopkins she is going to get in her blind bag or if her LOL Doll will be a limited edition. Clearly I missed my calling in life and should be making videos of unwrapping Shopkins my profession.

It is also getting so much warmer here in Savannah. I feel like we went straight from Winter to Summer. We are already seeing temperatures in the nineties so I know that it is going to be a long, hot summer. The plus side is that I have been able to pull out all of my cute dresses, off the shoulder tops, and fun sandals. I am loving all of the trends for this spring and summer. They are making my inner 90s girl so happy. Give me all of the wide leg, high waisted jeans and platform sandals!

This outfit was from earlier in the spring before the temperatures got significantly higher. I love this light-weight Members Only jacket and feel like it will be great for cooler summer nights. The fact that Members Only is still around making classic jackets also makes my inner 90s girl so happy! The pink color is a fun touch and I love how it gives a more casual vibe to my outfit. I paired it with one of my favorite pairs of jeans, the cutest blush mules, and a comfy tunic. To finish off the look, I added sunglasses, a pair of fun earrings, and my absolute favorite clutch from the Studio DIY Can’t Clutch This subscription. I mean a Toaster Pastry Clutch? Yes Please!

I am really hoping to get on a schedule, or at least catch up, on my blog this summer so if there is anything that you want to see or hear about, please do not hesitate to let me know! I always love to hear from you! I will also have a series of posts after my Disney trip so let me know what you want to hear about and I will be sure to snap the right pictures or uncover the right secrets! I am also planning my first video tutorial so if you have any filming or video tips, please let me know!

I hope you all have a great start to your summer and that you are making the most of every moment! Thank you for being such amazing followers! I appreciate all of you more than you know!

A Valentine’s Inspo

It seems like yesterday we were celebrating New Years and now here we are, already half way through February. February is always a busy month but one thing I am always happy to make time for is Valentine’s Day.

While I firmly believe that you don’t really need a day to show someone how much you love them, it is always nice to get dressed up and celebrate on a day just for love.

The great thing about Valentine’s Day is that it is no longer just for couples. It can be a day to spend with your best girlfriends, a day to celebrate your children, a day to show yourself some love, and, of course, a day to spend with your significant other. I have put together three different outfits to serve as some inspiration for your Valentine’s festivities and I know that one of them will work for whatever you have planned!

A Little Self Love

IMG_4881

For my first look, I went with a casual vibe, perfect for hanging out and showing yourself a little self love. Whether you are shopping, treating yourself to a manicure, or indulging in your favorite dessert, this is the perfect cute and casual look. I decided to feature two of the biggest styles of this season, chenille and velvet. I love the mix of textures and these colors give off the girliest vibes. My favorite part of the whole look would have to be this super fun Kate Spade tote. It is so roomy! I can put all of my essentials, as well as Vivi’s, and still have room to spare. I finished off the look with my favorite pair of stud booties and the cutest little tassel earrings. This look is the perfect mix of cute and casual and will keep you both festive and comfy!

Galentine’s Day Celebration

IMG_4956

For my next look, I went with bright colors and a fun print that would be great for a night out with your Girlfriends. Sometimes a Valentine’s Day is best spent with all of those fabulous ladies in your life. Grabbing drinks, dancing the night away and just spending time with the people that always have your back really does sound like an amazing way to spend Valentine’s Day. The print on this jumpsuit was just gorgeous. I was instantly drawn to the colors as soon as I saw it in the store. I pulled out the pink with this fun, velvet blazer. I finished off the look with my newest clutch from the Studio DIY Can’t Clutch This subscription, because everyone knows that Pizza is the real MVP on Valentine’s Day!

A Night Out With My Hunny

IMG_5029

For my final look, I went full glam, perfect for a night out with my Hubby. I was really inspired by my friend Mireille over at City Peach. She recently posted the cutest tulle cape and sequin socks and I was in love. After seeing her post I went and ordered my own cape and sequin socks. At the time, I had no idea when I would actually get to wear them but while pulling outfits for this post, I knew that would be perfect for this fun Valentine’s look. I love any excuse to dress up and these two items really gave my look the perfect finishing touch for a night out. I paired the items with the cutest little blush dress. This dress was an H&M find that I found on sale for $6! I couldn’t believe my luck. The dress had a looser fit so I cinched the waist with a cute belt. So I could wear the socks, I picked a classic pair of suede booties and then finished my look with gorgeous, blush tassel earrings. And because no look is complete without a little Megan whimsy, I added another fun Kate Spade bag. This little penguin is all dressed up and ready for his night out as well! This look was so much fun and I just loved spinning around in the little tulle cape.

I hope that you enjoyed all of my Valentine’s outfits! I am sure that one of these ideas will work for whatever you have planned, or at least give you some ideas for what to style from your own closet! The best thing about every piece was that I found it already in my closet! Nothing was bought for these pictures and it was so much fun, and a challenge, to put together outfits using items that I already owned! I encourage you to shop your own closet and do the same. Let me know if you go with any of my suggestions. I would love to see what you style for your Valentine festivities! I always love hearing from you!

A Capsule Wardrobe with Agnes & Dora

My life is busy… it is simple as that.

While I absolutely love clothes and putting together outfits, sometimes I am too rushed for time to put together something extradinary. In these moments, I need something that is both cute and comfortable and I can easily put together. Luckily I discovered Agnes & Dora. I was contacted by the super sweet Melissa, an Agnes & Dora consultant. I was intrigued because I had never heard of the brand before and was anxious to give it a try. I was immediately drawn to her brand because she has named her online boutique, Joli in Mel’s Boutique. Joli is french for pretty and what woman does not want to feel pretty?!

She allowed me to pick a few things to style for all of you and I decided to play on the idea of a capsule wardrobe. As I was browsing the pieces, I noticed that many of them were super versatile and could be worn together or separately. I picked items that I knew would look great alone, or would look amazing layered with other pieces.

IMG_1326

IMG_1286

IMG_1319

For my first piece, I chose the Blue Soft Denim Curie Dress. This dress looks like denim but is so much softer. It hugs your body in all the right places and really puts a skip in your step. I loved they way that it moved with every step I took. I decided to really keep the dress the main focus of my outfit and paired it with a simple pair of booties, a classic pair of tassel earrings, and one of my favorite red, plaid Kate Spade handbags.

IMG_1356

IMG_1349

IMG_1358

For my next look, I decided to keep the Curie Dress on, because Hello, it’s so cute, and layer it with the Vegan Angora Duster in Olive. This duster was such a great color so I knew that I would be able to wear it with so many things that were already in my closet. Olive really is a neutral. The material of the duster is very light weight so you get a little extra warmth without feeling constricted. It could easily be work in the Spring without any problem. I added one of my favorite Kendra Scott necklaces and changed up my boots and handbag.

IMG_1371

IMG_1375

IMG_1361

I decided to try one more look with the Curie Dress but this time I was really going to make it a fun outfit. To do that I added the You Give Love a Plaid Name Leggings. My Mom has always said that plaid is her favorite color and I think I have to agree that it is one of my favorites as well. It is such a fun, classic print that really brings life to any outfit. I layered the leggings underneath the dress for a pop of color and a more modest look. I threw on one of my favorite blazers, a Goodwill Southeast Georgia find, added a classic pair of booties, and a fun pair of tassel earrings

IMG_1400

IMG_1405

IMG_1414

For my last look, I wanted something completely different. I decided to go with theĀ Earhart Dress in Mauve because it looked incredibly soft and comfortable. I loved the color and knew that I would easily be able to match it with so much in my closet. I did not layer anything with this dress because I really wanted it to stand alone. The fit was so flattering and the material really came to life as I walked. I cannot even begin to tell you just how soft this dress is making it beyond comfortable. I paired it with a fun pair of earrings and rich, burgundy booties to give this look a finishing touch.

Since adding these pieces to my wardrobe I have been able to style them countless ways. The dresses look great with a kimono or denim jacket while the leggings look super cute with an oversized sweater. My favorite way to wear the duster is with a crisp, white oxford and jeans, but it also looks adorable with a tank and shorts. The options are truly limitless. I encourage to go visit Melissa and check out her current stock or pop on over to her Facebook page or Instagram and just say Hello. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed!

Happy 3rd Birthday Being Mrs. Fowler: The 3 Most Important Things I Have Learned in Blogging

Since a new year has started, that means that we need to celebrate!

Why you ask?

Well that is because my little blog just turned 3!

Happy Blogiversary Being Mrs. Fowler!!

IMG_4030

IMG_4019

IMG_4031

It is crazy to think that I have been able to call this little corner of the internet my own for three whole years. It has a been a crazy journey full of highs and lows but one thing has remained constant. I love the journey.

Starting my blog was a long time coming. I can’t tell you how many times I actually sat down and attempted to write my first post. But one night, New Years Eve to be exact, I was up late, not able to sleep, and I took the plunge. That very first post went live on New Years Day of 2016 and the rest is history. While I had every intention of my blog being mostly about fashion, with the occasional lifestyle post or DIY thrown in, that quickly changed because two weeks after starting this journey I found out I was pregnant with Vivi. Due to the fact that I was always tired and super sick, my blog became a source for “bumpdates” for friends and family and a way to share maternity style with my readers. While it was not my original intention, if fit my life for that first year and I love looking back on the memories, especially those that included my baby belly and precious newborn.

IMG_3766

IMG_3786

IMG_3691

Looking back, a lot has changed since that first year. I am more confident in front of the camera, a have a standing with many well-known brands and I started working with a professional photographer. Over the years the changes have been essential to build Being Mrs. Fowler into what she is today. Through all of this, I have learned so much. There is a reason that I keep on pushing and keep on persevering. I love what I do. This corner of the internet has become my voice. It is way to communicate what I am thinking and how I am feeling. It is a way to build a relationship with all of you, my beautiful readers. So, in honor of my three year blog anniversary, I want to share with you the three most important things that I have learned in blogging.

IMG_3726

IMG_4064

IMG_3846

1. Remember Your Why

It is very easy to get overwhelmed with blogging. For me, it is just a hobby so I have to find time to balance it between teaching, Mom Life and other responsibilities. Sometimes my plate is beyond full and I have a hard time managing everything. Often times, I feel obligated to write on my blog or post on my Instagram and that can become very stressful. In those moments I have to tell myself to take a deep breath and “Remember My Why.” Why did I start my blog? Why do I continue? Why do I strive to do better? The reason is simple. Because I love it. It is my hobby, my passion, and I have loved every aspect of the journey. I try to remind myself that I shouldn’t get worked up or stressed out over something I am passionate about. I shouldn’t let my hobby be the cause of feeling over whelmed. There is no point in continuing with something that you allow to fill your life with stress. If you feel that way, then I encourage you to take a step back, take a break and remember why you started blogging in the first place. I can promise you that you will be left with a renewed spirit and a clarity to push on. If you don’t get that, then maybe you should take a break. Unless your blog is your full time job, you should never let it become the main source of your stress. It is important to stay focused and only continue if you still enjoy every aspect of the journey.

IMG_3696

IMG_3861

2. Know Your Worth

As my blog and social media presence have grown, I find more and more brands reaching out to work with me. At first, since I was growing, I was happy to accept product in exchange for a post. Now that I have grown, I realize that my time and opinion is of worth. I took the time to figure out my rates and now request that a brand compensate me for time. Looking back, I wish that I had requested for brands to pay me from the beginning. My time is important and it takes time to work with brands. By the time that I put together content, have photographs taken, edit my photographs, write a post and put in appropriate SEO, I am looking at 5-6 hours of work. That is a lot of time when you think about how much I already have on plate. It never hurts to request that a brand pay you for your time. Sometimes they will say they do not have a budget for compensation. At that point, it will be up to you decide if you want to continue with the collaboration. If I really like the product or brand, sometimes I will continue, but here lately, I find myself turning away brands who are not willing to pay. My time is worth something and I want brands to know that I value myself and the work that I create.

If you are new to blogging, I encourage you to take the time to figure out your rate and stick to it. You will make yourself more valuable in the long run and build a relationship with brands that value your time and what you do.

IMG_3759

IMG_3710

3. Never Be Afraid to Ask

A lot of the work in blogging comes from reaching out to brands and pitching an idea. Here lately, I have made more of an effort to reach out to different brands in hopes that they will want to work with me. I realized that the worse they can say is “No.” What I have found is that if you pitch a quality idea, especially one that relates to your brand and your audience, a brand is most likely going to say “Yes!” I recently acquired my first collaboration with a hotel and it all came from me asking if they would take a chance and work with me. Personally, I value the opinion of smaller bloggers because I know that their opinion is genuine. Most of them are not being paid for the collaboration so they are working with the brand because they genuinely like the product or business. Most of the time, they also sought out this collaboration instead of the brand reaching out to them. In the world of blogging, the willingness to take a stand and reach out to a brand is worth something. Brands see that willingness and are most likely going to take a chance on you. If not, don’t let that be a discouragement. Continue to reach out and put yourself out there. You will only be gaining more skill and experience. I can promise that with a little hard work, dedication, and a killer pitch, eventually, someone is going to say “Yes” and take a chance on you!

Coat | Blouse | Skirt | Earrings | Watch

I hope that these tips help you as much as they have helped me. With each of these, I wish that someone had taken the time to tell me these things in the beginning. They are so important for knowing your worth and building a brand that you can be proud to stand behind. With a little time and dedication, each of of these tips will help you to reach your goals and build a firm foundation in your blog.

Thank you so much for following along on this journey with me! I am so grateful for your continued support! As always, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. I always love to hear from you!

She Leaves a Little Sparkle Wherever She Goes

When the new year starts, I don’t know about you but I have all of these big plans. Big plans to wake up earlier, eat healthier, exercise more and put myself on a better schedule. Well here we are on day 23 of the new year and I have already had 5 cheat meals, only exercised twice and have only written one blog. So much for resolutions.

IMG_3045

But as I sit here and type all of this out I can’t help but ask myself, “What is the point of a resolution?” I mean seriously? What is it about a New Year that makes people want to change who they are and the choices they make? Most importantly, why do you need a New Year to make those changes?

Last year, I made a decision to lose weight. It didn’t come because of the New Year. It came because I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror. It came because I was upset at the weight I had allowed myself to put on. It came because I was ready to make a better life choice. For me, it was not a resolution. It was a lifestyle change that just happened to start in the month of January.

IMG_3050

IMG_3059

What I think that we all need to realize is that we don’t need a New Year to make better life choices. We just need motivation, determination and a want to be better. Whether it is the month of January or October, any time of the year is a good choice to be a better you. For me, it was something that I wanted for myself and only for myself. I didn’t let anyone else influence my decision and I put in the time and effort to make the changes that I wanted a reality. It was not a quick over night fix. It was hard work and persistence that paid off.

IMG_3079

IMG_3087

I am writing this to challenge you to make a life style change this year. Not a resolution that you will break in two weeks, but a choice to be a better version of yourself. I feel like if you are making a change to fit with your life style, then their is room to customize it to fit your needs. A resolution is so absolute. Do this. Give up this. Don’t do this. A life style change, however, is more along the lines of, “What kind of choices can I make to make sure this change is successful in my own life?” For me, I knew that I could not give up wine or coffee. Because of this I made the sacrifice to give up something that I could live without. I also knew that I would hardly exercise so I started doing little things like parking further from the door, doing small exercises before bed or taking a walk around my neighborhood. And these choices worked for me!

Bottom line, while I do have hopes and goals for the year, just like last year, what I really want is to make better choices for a better me. I want to sparkle in whatever I do.

IMG_3093

IMG_3100

Make it a point this year to make a life style change instead of trying to keep up with a resolution. I promise that you will be much more successful, and much happier, with a change tailored to fit your life. Changes are not one size fits all. They have to be molded into what works for you. I encourage you to be the best version of yourself and leave a little sparkle wherever you go. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! I always love hearing from you!
