Happy Anniversary Kendra Scott!!

When I first found out that a Kendra Scott was coming to Savannah, I was beyond thrilled. For a while, I had loved this jewelry line from afar. Not having a store near me that even sold the jewelry I was not able to give a try. That all changed when a Kendra Scott store came to Broughton Street. I was privileged enough to meet Meghan, the Community Outreach & Events Manager, before the store opened. From there I built a partnership with the store that I have been thrilled to build upon this last year.

Every Kendra Scott is out in their communities raising money and trying to make a difference. They are constantly giving back through their Kendra Gives Back program. In fact, most organizations can schedule their own Kendra Gives Back Event and 20% of all the proceeds made that night will go back to your organization. How amazing is that?

I was so excited to be able to attend their one-year anniversary party and just celebrate this amazing company. I enjoyed a little bubbly, ate a few sweets and went home with some fabulous new jewels! The anniversary party perfectly coincided with their Spring Launch so I was excited to see all the new jewels. There was so many natural stone options and lots of sparkle!

Showcased at the event, Kendra also a had a collection of jewelry specifically selected to raise awareness for the American Heart Association. If you purchase any piece from this collection during the month of February, Kendra Scott will donate 20% of the sales to help raise awareness in women about heart health. The month is not over so hurry in and help support this amazing cause! You can shop in-store or online! Just click HERE to shop online!

Tunic 101: What, Where and How to Buy My Closet Staple

One of the questions that I get asked the most is,”Where do you buy all of your tunics?” It is no secret that I love me a great tunic so I have acquired quite the collection over the last few years. They are one of the most versatile pieces of clothing because they can be worn so many different ways. I love to wear them with leggings, jeans and even shorts. They can be worn alone, with cardis or even knotted for a completely different look. I also love that they are perfect for any body type. The loose material doesn’t hug to tightly so they are perfect for baby bumps, postpartum bellies, PMS bloat or even when you just ate one to many cupcakes. Bottom line, I am obsessed.

Honestly I search for them in every store that I shop. Target, Nordstrom, Wal-Mart, Forever 21, T.J. Maxx… you name it. Boutiques are another place to find tunics. I have found many cute ones in my favorite Insta shops! No matter where though, if it has an amazing tunic, I will find it!

But the best place that I have found to purchase tunics is Amazon. At least 80% of my tunics were bought with Amazon Prime and arrived on my doorstep in just two days! Not only this, but most were purchased for $20 or less! So I am here to share all of my tunic secrets with you! So sit back, read, and get ready to click links to shop!

The tunics that I have from Amazon come in a variety of sleeve links. I have sleeveless, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve and long sleeve. You thought I was kidding when I told you I was obsessed! If you are looking to only purchase a few, the best option would probably be short sleeve or 3/4 sleeve. This sleeve length gives you more options of how to style the tunics. They can be worn alone in the spring or summer without getting to hot and then layer easily in the fall and winter for added warmth.

Sleeveless | Short Sleeve | 3/4 Sleeve | Long Sleeve

Another option that you have is hemline. While most of my tunics have a hem that is straight across, you also have the option of handkerchief, hi-low and even ruffle. A straight hemline will give you the most versatility because it is the most basic but sometimes it is fun to add a touch of whimsy with a little ruffle.

Straight | Hi-Low | Handkerchief | Ruffle

You final major option when purchasing a tunic is the length. Most of my tunics hid about mid-thigh. They are a true tunic and cannot be worn as a dress. I do have a few tunics that are little longer. They sit right above the knee and are great to wear in the summer with a cute pair of sandals. Because the material is thinner, make sure to wear a slip underneath if you chose to wear it as a dress. Being able to see your panties through your clothes will never be in style!

Here a few quick outfits that I threw together to show you just how versatile these tunics are in my closet.

Alone, with leggings or with jeans… whatever you decide, I know that these tunics will become just as much a staple for you as they have for me!

Here a few blog posts where I am wearing these tunics, or something similar, so you can see just how versatile they are in my wardrobe.

I hope you all found this post informative! Remember, search for a tunics in whatever store you happen to be shopping! You never know what you might find!

Sizing Note: In all of the tunics purchased from Amazon, as well as most of the tunics that I own, I am wearing a size Large.

Kendra Scott Grand Opening Event

I had the privilege of attending the Kendra Scott Grand Opening Event in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia and it was truly an amazing event!!

As a jewelry lover, I was thrilled to find out that we would be getting a Kendra Scott store on Broughton Street! The jewelry is so classic and can truly go with anything. I was excited to go to the Grand Opening Event so I dressed up in my favorite Shabby Apple Dress and headed to the event with my fellow blogger, and #igbestie, Julia!

Right outside the door, they had a Selfie Station so we had to stop and take a few pictures! Then we headed inside to enjoy the snacks and do a little shopping!

There was two signature drinks for the party: Savannah Peach and Basil Lemonade. Being that I am a Georgia Peach, I chose the Savannah Peach and it was super yummy! It was really light and refreshing and perfect to help me unwind at the end of the day.

There was also some yummy snacks from a lot of local eateries. My favorites were the macarons by Marche de Macarons, the cookies by the super talented De Colores Cookies y Mas, and the adorable chocolate truffles made to look like pearls in oyster shells by Chocolat by Adam Turoni.

But let’s not forget the reason that we came to visit in the first place… the shopping!! Lucky for us, they were having an amazing deal! If you spent $50, you got free pair of earrings!! Say What??!!IMG_7755

Julia and I both made a custom piece of jewelry at the Color Bar. I got the Rayne Necklace in Rose Gold with a Rose Quartz Stone.

We both had a lot of fun and were grateful to be able to attend such a fun event!

If you are ever in Savannah, I urge you to stop by Broughton Street and check out the Kendra Scott store. The store is absolutely beautiful, the staff is super nice and the jewelry is stunning!

And remember, you can follow along with me daily on Instagram as well as with Julia!! And be sure to check out her blog as well!!

Nursing 101 with Izzy Maternity

Throughout my pregnancy I had the privilege of meeting so many people and working with so many great companies. One of my favorite companies that I met was Izzy Maternity.

Izzy Maternity is a boutique with two locations in Georgia, which are in Buckhead (Atlanta) and Alpharetta, that specializes in Maternity and Nursing products. The variety of products that they have is truly incredible and they really have something to meet all of your nursing and maternity needs. The great thing about Izzy Maternity… they have a website!!

Today I am featuring a few amazing products that I have had the privilege of trying that have made my Nursing journey just a little easier!

A Good Nursing Bra

The bra that I have been using is the Bravado Lifestyle Microfiber Nursing Bra. It is a soft cup nursing bra with a nice comfortable fit. It has, unfortunately, been discontinued, but Izzy Maternity sells many bras from the Bravado line that are all comfortable. To see their selection, just check out their website by clicking here.

The bra has a front snap to easily remove the cup so that nursing your baby can be easy and discreet. Having already used it a few times, I can assure that the Bravado line is easy to use and allows for easy nursing, even in public.

A Cute Nursing Top

IMG_3923  IMG_3924

When nursing, you don’t have to give up your style or fashion sense. It is easy to fall into a style rut and only wear pajamas, a bra or nothing at all. Nursing is hard work and can often take up the majority of the day. I have found that if you actually get dressed, you feel better and when the clothes are cute, it helps that much more. In the picture above I am wearing the Fedora III top by 9 Fashion. It is an extremely feminine blouse that is softly woven with decorative draping around the bosom area. Its charm is enhanced with a decorative midriff and the lining around the bosom area allows for discreet breastfeeding.

The top has short sleeves and a fit and flair look, so it fits a little looser on the belly. The fabric is a viscose/lycra blend. The fit and material make this top a great maternity top, as well, allowing for easy transition throughout your pregnancy. This is a summer top, so there are only a few left in stock. If you would like to order this top, you can call Izzy Maternity at 404-949-0222. They do, however, have many cute nursing tops perfect for Fall on their website that you can checkout by clicking here.

Yummy Snacks

In order to keep up your milk supply it is essential that you increase your caloric intake. You should constantly be snacking and eating healthy meals. There are so many snacks available that actually help to increase your milk supply, specifically snacks with oatmeal. I recently tried Milk Makers Lactation Cookies.

IMG_3921  IMG_3922

Milkmakers cookies and mixes are seriously delicious and nutritious with natural key ingredients that can help BOOST your breast milk supply. The have a wide variety of flavors that you can order as mixes or by the bag, and you can even order a monthly subscription. To purchase the cookies, just click here. Be sure and check out the Milk Makers website as well because it is full of great information to help you on your breast-feeding journey!

Baby Wearing

Baby wearing is not something that is required for nursing but I have found that it makes nursing so much easier, especially when in public. My little girl loves being up against my chest, feeling my heart beat, and being close to her food supply. There are many wraps and carriers available on the market but, thanks to Izzy Maternity, I have discovered a product that I love.

IMG_3943  IMG_3942

This is the Nuroo Pocket. The NüRoo® Pocket is a babywearing shirt that offers full coverage and mobility for moms practicing skin-to-skin contact with their baby. It also doubles as a hands free carrier! It is super easy to use!!

First, slip on the shirt and slide your baby into the pocket. The Nuroo Pocket is meant to be worn with baby only in a diaper for skin-to-skin contact, but if going out in public, baby can wear clothes.

IMG_3947  IMG_3946

Next, you pull the pocket against you and attach to the other side with the velcro patches. The opposite side then pulls all the way around to attach to more velcro patches for further security and support.

The final step is to slip on the support belt. This belt fastens around your waist, sitting right underneath baby’s bottom, to support baby even more. It easily attaches with a velcro loop.

The Nuroo Pocket also has a little hole so that baby’s foot can be easily removed. This is perfect for when in the hospital and baby needs a blood draw or skin prick. The pocket means that baby never has to become unswaddled and always remains skin-to-skin.

This is truly a great baby wearing product that my little one already loves. While it is not yet available through Izzy Maternity, you can purchase it on the Nuroo website by clicking here.

Nursing is a journey that each Mom has to figure out for herself. Some things will work for you and some things will not. The important thing to remember is to not give up and to keep trying. It may not always be easy but there are so many products available to help you in your journey. Izzy Maternity has so many great resources available at your fingertips. To help you out even further I have a discount code just for my readers! Simply enter beingmrsfowler at checkout and you will save 10% on your entire purchase from now until October 31st. They also have a super knowledgeable staff that can answer any questions that you may have if you just call the store at 404-949-0222. I hope that some of these tips work for you as well as they have for me.

Good Luck on your Nursing Journeys!!

One of the things that I absolutely love about Instagram is finding new people to follow, especially boutiques. Recently I found an adorable jewelry designer by the name of @gypctea. I Stole This Shirt From My Husbands Closet

Why is it that a man’s shirt always fits better than a woman’s shirt?? And I don’t just mean on them. I mean on us as well. I want you to think about one of the sexiest things that a woman can wear. It has got to be, hands down, a man’s shirt and underwear, nothing else. Usually the shirt is simply picked up off the floor and used to cover oneself, but that is a post for another day.

IMG_9146    IMG_9147

While I technically didn’t steal this shirt from my Husband’s closet, it was purchased from the men’s section of American Eagle. I am tall, for a woman, and I have long arms. I find that a woman’s shirt is usually too short in the sleeves and not long enough to cover my rear end. I love wearing button ups with leggins so rear coverage is a must when purchasing a button up. I started checking the sale section of the men’s department and found that the sleeves are usually long enough and the sale is usually better. This is not just true for American Eagle but almost all clothing stores. Hollister, Abercrombie, Ralph Lauren, even the local Goodwill, the men’s section is one of my favorite places to look next time you head to the store. I promise that you will not be disappointed, and your might even save a few dollars!
