If It’s Not Moving, Monogram It!

Hello November!

Welcome to the month of good food, good family, good friends and good clothes!

Good clothes? Heck yes!

Here in South Georgia, it is pretty much hot all year long. Luckily, once November finally roles around, we get a break in the heat. It may only be for a day or two, but we embrace those days with cozy sweaters, warm scarves and cute boots! One of my favorite places to shop for all of these cold weather basics is Marley Lilly.

As a true Southern Girl, I firmly stand behind Reese Witherspoon’s motto, My rule is, if it’s not movingmonogram it! Marley Lilly also stand firm on this motto and offers an entire website of monorammable goodies. Whether you are looking for a cozy sweater, a warm scarf, or cute boots, they have everything for your cold weather needs.

On a recent trip to the mountains of North Carolina, I was grateful to have my Marley Lilly goodies to wear to keep warm. My current favorite is this amazing Monogrammed Boyfriend Sweater. It is so cozy and I love the oversized feel. It was perfect to wear with my favorite leggings and a basic tank. It would also be adorable with a pair of skinny jeans and boots. To stay with my monogrammed theme, I paired my sweater with my Monogrammed Duck Boots. They were beyond comfortable and looked super cute with a pair of thick knee socks pushed down.

I encourage you to check out their site and see what other mongrammed beauties they have to offer! I already have a cart full of goodies that I cannot wait to order! This Mom is going to be monogrammed and ready for any cool weather that comes our way! I have linked a few of my favorites for you to check out:

A Southern Girls Dream: A Peek Inside of Draper James

This summer, I had the privilege of visiting Draper James in Nashville, TN and let me tell you… it was a Southern Girls dream!

The store itself oozes Southern Hospitality and the girls that work there are as sweet at the tea that they offer you as soon as you walk through the door. I probably wandered around the store, sipping my tea, for a good 15 minutes before I ever really started shopping. I just wanted to take in every aspect of the store. You can tell that so much thought went into this entire brand. Every little detail is perfectly placed or arranged in such a way that you can’t help but me mesmerized. It was like flipping through an issue of Southern Living magazine. You wanted it all!

I love that Reese Witherspoon plays such a huge part in the development of her brand. You can tell that she really has a hand in every little detail. Here Southern roots are continually present throughout the store and she is frequently spotted wearing the brand out and about. I had heard that she often visits the Nashville store and was hoping that she would be in the store on my visit. She, unfortunately, was not but maybe that was a good thing. My husband said that he didn’t know if he could handle both of our personalities in the same room! He had a feeling that we would have both gotten loud and giggly!

I knew that I wanted to purchase a few things to take home with me and implement into my wardrobe. At the top of my wish list was the “Totes Y’all” tote. I really feel like this piece has become an iconic staple of the brand and I knew that I would be able to use it with so much in my own wardrobe. I also loved the “What Would Dolly Do?” tote and the “Hello Sugar” tote! I highly recommend that you consider purchasing one of these totes. Any of these totes would be a great addition to your existing handbag collection. They have plenty of space, hold their shape well, and are perfect for a day of shopping or picnic at the park!

I also wanted to purchase a piece of the clothing but, I wanted to make sure that it was a piece that I would be able to get the most use from. While I absolutely love the dresses and sweaters, I knew that those were not going to be the best for my wardrobe. Instead I chose the Stripe Cloister Top. It was a great neutral that I would be able to wear almost year round, especially with out South Georgia temperatures, and it could easily be dressed up or down. It fit great and has quickly become one of my favorite pieces in my closet! Want a sneak peek of a future blog post featuring the shirt and the tote? Just scroll down to the bottom!

While these pictures showcase their spring/summer collection the fall collection is just as cute and I already have my eye on a few pieces! Want to check out what I am eyeing to add to my fall wardrobe? Just click on the links below!

While I am thankful that I have the opportunity to shop Draper James online, I really hope that Reese will one day bring a store to Savannah! I know that it would fit right in with the charm of our Southern town! Don’t you agree?

When you have family pictures taken on a horse farm, you use that opportunity to take some truly incredible blog photos.

Once again, JHillis Photography has captured some truly stunning photos. He may be family, but his talent is undeniable!

For the family pictures, my Mom wanted us all to wear chambray and pearls. Other than that, we could decide how we styled our outfit. I was feeling the Spring weather and decided to go with a floral vibe. My blazer is from J.Crew Factory and it was a total steal. After the sale price, a coupon and my teacher discount, I only paid around $20! This is an amazing price for something that retailed well over $100!

I had a lot of fun with my accessories by piling on the pearls. This brought a touch of girlishness to my outfit and keep me true to my Southern roots. Southern girls love their pearls!  My clutch is real leather and is an oldie, but a goodie. It is from my days of working at Nine West in college and, thanks to a sale price and a great employee discount, I only paid around $30. I really miss that discount!

Would you believe that my chambray is maternity??!! I absolutely loved the color and length of this chambray and hated to pack it away with my maternity clothes. It may be a little big, but the blazer helped to hide the extra bulk! And if I hadn’t told you, you probably never would have known!

It was a beutiful day and Jordan really did capture some special moments between all the girls in our family. Three generations in one photo! If you want to check out all of the photos from the shoot, the head on over to his blog and see some of the pictures from the day! And while you are at it, contact him about doing your own family photo shoot!
