For this release, I decided to team up with some of my favorite Blogger Babes to share our favorite pieces. Kendra Scott has always made beautiful jewelry but I feel like when you are able to see it with an outfit, instead of just on a shelf, it makes so much more of a statement. The pieces come to life and you are able to start thinking about how you would style them in your own wardrobe. You go from wanting a piece of jewelry to needing to add that statement to your own collection. Together with my friends, we tried to bring the pieces to life. To show their movement, highlight their colors, and showcase their versatility. These pieces will become staples in your wardrobe.

So who are these fabulous blogger babes? I am sure you recognize Julia of Glitter & Juls. She is one of my best friends and has made frequent appearances on my blog and Instagram. The blonde cutie is Kailey of Little Miss Payne. She has quickly become one of my closest friends and I am so thankful for her friendship and support. We all met up at the gorgeous Kendra Scott store on Broughton Street, picked out our favorites, and our friend Hilary, of Hilary Hull Photography, captured the magic. I hope you enjoy the pictures. We had so much fun and really fell even more in love with the pieces. I will link all of our favorites and I encourage you to add some to your own collection.

The Grove: A New Savannah Staple

Savannah Mom Blogger, Being Mrs. Fowler, visits new Savannah restaurant and nightlife hot spot, The Grove

One of my favorite things about Savannah is all of the yummy, local cuisine. We have a lot of truly amazing restaurants that feature unique dishes, friendly atmospheres, and some great views of the city. Our newest addition, The Grove, is no exception and is already making waves in our little community.

Over my Spring Break I called up my sweet friend Amy Darley of the YouTube channel Team Darley to see if she wanted to join me for lunch. She had been eager to try it out as well so we met on a Thursday for lunch with an open mind and empty bellies. We were immediately blown away by the building. It is striking and modern with crisp white, black pops, and lots of doors and windows. On nice days you can find all of the doors open making the atmosphere even more inviting. One of the first things that you are sure to notice is the tiled floor. It has quickly become one of the most Instagrammed spots in Savannah and it is easy to see why. It pulls you into the building and just encourages you to pull up a seat and stay for a while.

When we visited they were still operating on an abbreviated menu. We quickly made our choices and then sat back to enjoy the ambiance and architecture. We both knew that we wanted to get the Honey Drizzled Fries. It with just the right amount of sweetness mixed with a hint of jalapeno, creating the perfect glaze on a salty and crisp french fry. I could have probably eaten my weight in them! For my meal I got the Savannah Salad. It was light, refreshing and made complete by the tastiest candied pecans. Truly a southern staple. Amy selected The Grove Burger and she said that it was so good. We both cleaned our plates, a sure sign that the food was delicious!

Now that the full menu is complete, I personally cannot wait to head back and taste the Low Country Kale, Forsyth Fried Okra, and the Veggie Burger!

After we finished our meal, we took a tour of the building. The restaurant consists of three stories. The first flour was the main dining room where we ate. There is a large bar area in the main dining room, but there is also a second bar area off the side of the restaurant. This bar area has large doors that are opened up to City Market on nice days. There is also outdoor seating so you can enjoy your meal while taking in the hustle and bustle of City Market. The second floor was a space that was available to use for meeting and parties. It housed large, comfy chairs, a bar area, and a large table with plenty of seating. The final floor was the rooftop bar and it is definitely the shining star of the entire restaurant. Large doors are opened out onto the deck with a perfect view overlooking City Market. There is a bar, comfy couch style seating and high-top tables. This is sure to become one of the busiest spots for Savannah night life and I cannot wait to head up there for Date Night and drinks with my husband in the very near future.

The Grove truly is the perfect addition to our charming little town. It is located in a central location and has something to meet all the needs of its guests. Whether you are dining with your family (I brought Vivi with me!), hanging out with girlfriends, or just enjoying a Date Night, The Grove is the perfect place to enjoy a great meal in the perfect atmosphere. If you are local, be sure to stop in and check it out, and if you are a visiting then you definitely need to add it to your to-do list! Either way, be sure to tell them that Being Mrs. Fowler sent you! I promise that you will not be disappointed!

The Business of Being Busy + BALADIGALA Boots

Well, my intentions of being more routine with my blog posts has not been that successful. To say that my life is busy now would be an understatement. We just sold and moved out of our house, loaded everything into a Pod, moved the essentials into my parents, and are anxiously waiting for our house to be built. The goal is this summer so send a lot of good vibes that we stay on schedule.

IMG_5087

All of the chaos of moving is just the tip of the iceberg. I am also swamped with meetings, appointments, collaborations, daily responsibilities, and work. It is really hard to fit in a schedule of blog posts, especially when it is not my full-time job.

I really love blogging. It is my way to unwind, to express what I am feeling, and just have a safe place in my little corner of the internet. It is my own. I built it from the ground up into what it is today and have watched it mature and grow over the last three years. It is easy to feel like I need to push out a post or stay on a schedule, especially when I have so many people who have taken the time to give me a follow.

IMG_5157

IMG_5099

The truth is, though, that your hobby should never feel like an obligation. Lately I have realized that I only want to publish something that I am proud to have written. Something that I am passionate about in my life. I never want to get to the point that I am just pushing out content for the sake of having a post.

We get so caught up in the business of being busy that we think that we have to fit everything on our plates, writing blog posts included! In reality we should be taking a step back, only making time for what really matters in our lives, and, most importantly, making the time to take care of ourselves. I recently wrote a blog post about taking care of ourselves and I encourage you to check it out. It has a lot of great tips on how you can show your self a little love and really allow yourself the change to relax.

Relax and Unwind

IMG_5047

IMG_5134

I ask that you bare with me over these next few months. I am going to try my hardest to give you all fun, quality content, but I also have a lot going on in my life. My first responsibility will always be to my family, followed by work. Not matter how much I wish this little hobby of mine could be my full-time job, I have not quite gotten to that point yet so it often will get pushed to the end of my to-do list. That is real life. Most importantly though, it is MY real life and I will continue to do whatever I can to make sure that I am always putting forth my best work and effort in all that I do!

Thank you for sticking with me and supporting me these last few years. You all help to make it so much more special and are my reason why!

Now, for something a little lighter, how gorgeous are these booties?! The color, the style, the rich, fragrant leather… I am obsessed! They are from chicest little boot company called BALADIGALA. Each boot from their collection features real leather, hand painted details, studs or crystals. They are all gorgeous and are sure to become a staple in your wardrobe. The timeless design and materials means that you will be able to enjoy them for many years. My pair is called Fika Effortless (c/o) in the burgundy color. They go with almost everything in my wardrobe. I love that the color looks good with both browns and blacks. The bootie style means that I can wear them all year long. Just think how cute they would be with a little floral dress! I encourage you to check out BALADIGALA and snag a pair for yourself!

Impeccably Chic: Hanging out at The Impeccable Pig

IMG_4525

In the heart of downtown Savannah, nestled among the Oak Trees and Spanish Moss, on the ever busy Broughton Street, just down from H&M, you can find one of the cutest little boutiques, The Impeccable Pig. This little company was started by a mother and daughter team out of Texas and now boasts 21 stores throughout the Southeast, as well as a very successful online presence.

LuLu Off the Shoulder Crop Top

I have to be honest. I only started shopping with them in the last year but once I stepped foot inside, I was hooked. It is a small store so it feels homey and welcoming. The staff is cheerful and inviting, and the adorable clothes and great price points keep you coming back for more. After a lot of chatting back and forth with the store manager, Taylor, we were finally able to put together a Blogger’s Night Out to celebrate the fabulous ladies of Savannah. This Thursday, March 29th, from 6-8pm, join us for a night of sweets and sales. Come shop all of the cute, new spring arrivals for 20% off and enjoy a selection of snacks while you shop. The best part is that I will be there all night to help you pick out outfits, put together pieces and just socialize. I am so excited to meet with all of the fabulous ladies of Savannah and I know it is going to be a great night!

Spring has Sprung

I am loving that it is starting to warm up here in Georgia. We have had some exceptionally cold days and, while I do love the cold, too much starts to freeze my Southern blood. Here recently, on a very nice day, I was able to style some outfits for spring. It was so nice to be able to pull out my lighter layers and some of my favorite spring accessories.

DL2A2587-2

DL2A2585

DL2A2625

DL2A2599

The first look features the cutest light-weight thermal from Tobi. To add a little extra style to the top, I left the two bottom buttons unbuttoned and added a knot. I love the added detail and it makes the top that much more special. The material is super light weight so I know that I will easily be able to style the top with white skinnies or a cute pair of shorts in the coming warmer months.

For this look, I opted for a great pair of destroyed denim. This pair runs large and long! They are absolutely amazing but I had to order one size down and order a short! That never happens with my long legs! I also added some super cute accessories that I plan on styling on season long. I cannot say enough about the earrings. They are even cuter in person and have some really amazing details. I have already worn the shoes more times than I care to admit. They are super comfortable and go with almost anything. The handbag doubles as a backpack so it is perfect for keeping my hands free to chase my super fast toddler.

For my next look, I piled on all of the layers to create the cutest “weekend-ready” look! The star of this look is this super comfortable black shift dress from Tobi. The material is so soft and it has the best fit. I paired it with a great fitting chambray to give it a more casual look. I knotted the chambray for extra detail.

The accessories really stand out in this outfit as well. Instead of using a necklace or pair of earrings, I opted for a bandanna. This helped to up my casual vibe and really gave the outfit an unexpected look. I also love that the knot in the chambray mimics the knot in the bandanna. For shoes, I threw on my favorite tennis shoes, so I could really keep up with my active toddler. I swear, she runs faster that I do most days! To cover up my un-washed locks (#momlife) I decided to go with a hat. This one is so cute and has the perfect sized brim. It is great for everyday wear and beyond affordable. I finished the look with the cutest Kate Spade Camel bag and an adorable pair of heart-shaped sunnies!

For my last look, I pulled out my absolute favorite spring shoes and handbag and decided to mix up the seasons. This Tobi bell-sleeve top has the best velvet detail down the side. It features a thick, black stripe, paired with a smaller blue stripe by the wrist. I really feel like it was an unexpected detail for the top and I love how well it paired with my spring accessories. But the details don’t stop there on the top! There is definitively a party in the back when you turn around and reveal a cute knot detail, that shows just a hint of skin. It is such a fun addition and will really help to carry this top over to the summer.

To add even more detail, these jeans have a great button fly. I actually did not own a pair of button-fly jeans so I am happy to now have a pair in my collection. I also added a great pair of monogrammed sunglasses and a fun pair of tassel earrings. There are so many great tassel earrings in stores right now and most of them are super affordable. I love that the statement earring trend is carrying over into the spring because it was my favorite trend from the fall and winter months!

Hopefully all of these looks give you some inspiration for spring. I am definitely looking forward to the warmer months and cannot wait to put even more outfits together!

Just a Few Favorites

I really wanted to write a deep and meaningful blog post. One that maybe touched millions and was shared thousands of time on Facebook…

But then I got distracted by how cute this outfit was and how cute my kid is and now I only want to talk about things that I love!

How does that sound?

DSC_0124

First up… this outfit! Chambray and jeans give me life. I really don’t think there is anything more perfect than a Canadian Tuxedo. It is just so classic and polished. Add in the half tuck on the chambray and you are totally winning at life. At least on that day! And can we talk about how great it is to have a good block heel sandal in your wardrobe. I never realized how much I loved them until I bought a pair. A then it turned into owning at least five pairs. They are super comfortable so I can easily wear them all day without any problems. I have also seen them in a variety of colors, textures and patterns so there really is a pair for everyone. The best part about them? You can literally find them to fit any budget! I have pairs from Target, Forever 21, TJ Maxx and DSW. Want a more high-end brand? There are tons of options at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks! Here are some of my favorite ones that I have found:

So now that we have talked a little bit about my clothes, let’s talk about my favorite thing in these pictures, my sweet Vivilyn! Being a Mom is, hands down, the greatest that has ever happened to me. To know that I help to create that precious little life, that I grew her safely inside my belly for 9 long months, is truly a gift. I never imagined that I could love something as much as I do her. I never really understand how people were so obsessed with their children, that is, until I had one of my own. I am going to be honest, the obsession was not always there. In the beginning, it was really hard. I often resented that little life for starving me of sleep, showers and food. I was tired, sore and angry, my hormones were still so messed up and I wanted a long, hot shower and uniterupted sleep more than anthing. Looking back I know that to feel that way was completely normal. I am only human. Having a baby wrecks havoc on your body both mentally and physically. On the other side, though, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for my feisty little redhead. She is worth every sleepless night, every clogged milk duct, every stretch mark and ever grey hair. Being Vivi’s Mommy is my favorite title, my favorite job and my favorite blessing. She is such an absolutely fun age. Doing these blog photos with her have been so much fun! She has so much personality and is such a little joy. It just makes me lover her so much more.

So let’s have a little fun with my favorites!

How about I fill you in on my Top 10 Favorite Songs! I have to warn you, it is a rather eclectic mix!

1. Dog Days are Over by Florence + The Machine

2. Chocolate by The 1975

3. Foundations by Kate Nash

4. Wreck of the Day by Anna Nalick

5. Set the Fire to the 3rd Bar by Snow Patrol

6. Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band

7. Portions for Foxes by Rilo Kiley

8. 3AM by Anna Nalick

9. Day Late Friend by Anberlin

10. Wonderwall by Oasis

If you hadn’t guessed, I can be a little emo at times. Honestly, I love lots of different types of music. My favorite artist is Norah Jones, I love Carrie Underwood and Death Cab for Cutie can do no wrong. My radio sticks on country music in the car and I will forever get up and dance to 90s pop music. What can I say? I love music!

I hope that you don’t mind that I share these random facts about my life. Sometimes it’s nice to talk about things that I love and enjoy, instead of just clothes all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I love clothes, I love fashion and I love putting together outfits, but sometimes it’s just nice to let you in on a little piece of my life. I am so thankful for each and every one of you who spend time with me every week! I cannot thank you enough for your dedication and support! And that is another thing that I love! All of you! Thanks for sticking with me on this little blog!

Blushing Through Some Honesty in my Blush Skinnies

My skinnies may be blush, but that is not the only thing that is going to be blushing through this post! I am about to get real and honest with you about some of the things in my life!

DSC_0077

Before we begin with my blushing, warmer temps mean that I feel the need to wear all of my pretty pastels and these blush pants are no exception. Throw in some gorgeous neutrals, girlie lace and bright pops of color and you have a perfect spring outfit. These are all such great pieces that you have probably already seen on the blog before. I really try not to shop just for blog posts. As a busy Mom and Teacher, it is just not feasible for me to have two separate wardrobes. If you are seeing it on the blog, you can almost guarantee that it has been in some form or fashion in my real life. I may come off as leading a glamorous life… maybe… if you examine me really closely with a magnifying glass. But I am nothing close to glamorous.

DSC_0082

DSC_0092

Clearly I love fashion, and with that, I love fashion bloggers. It was one of the main reasons that I started blogging in the first place. I admired their style, poise and grace. They always looked so put together and like they could conquer the world. I wanted that for my own life.

In many ways, I really feel like I have achieved that. I may not be glamorous, but I am definitely giving off some girl boss vibes! Sometimes I even surprise myself with how much I am able to accomplish in a week. Some weeks I even accomplish it all wearing heels every day! That is conquering the world… or at least the staff meeting!

DSC_0080

DSC_0079

Now are you ready for my blushing?

For me, what you see on the blog is what you get. I try to remain true to who I am and not wear things that are not my style. In fact, some days when I don’t know what to wear, I go through old blog photos for inspiration! I am proud of the outfits that I put together so why not wear them to work. At least it gives off the impression that I have my life together.

To be perfectly honest, most days I do not have my life together. I either have a full face of makeup or a super cute outfit. Rarely do I have both at the same time. I also wash my hair about once a week. That means that at any given time there might be a pound of dry shampoo in my hair. Don’t worry! I am clean! I am just usually to tired to wash, blow dry and straighten my hair. In fact, on the weeks that I do wash my hair more than once, I am probably going to go to bed with it wet!

And that is real life!

DSC_0086

DSC_0078

I am about as human as they come. My dishes get piled up in my sink, clothes get thrown down on the floor of my closet and laundry may get washed, but it rarely get folded! I never fill up the car with gas before the gas light comes on, I let Vivi watch way too much Peppa Pig and binge watch shows on Netflix. I may be eating healthy but I don’t know if I will ever be able to give up Starbucks. In fact, I will choose Starbucks over food any day of the week. Speaking of Starbucks, I am totally that Mom who gets her kid a Cake Pop every time we go. In fact, Vivi now asks for them by name and gets ecstatically happy when she sees that brown Starbucks treat bag.

That is my real life. Those are just a few of my secrets. And you know what, I am totally ok with sharing them because I know I am not alone! We are all just doing the best we can and that is all anyone can ask of us!

I hope that you enjoy my little blog and can relate to me just a little better because I definitely enjoy writing it for all of you! Why not let me know your most “human” trait in the comments? I love to hear from you!
